Chapter 10 - The Final Revelation“Alessandro, if you are reading this, it means the rat has finally been cleared from our house, and you are sitting alone at the head of a table built on bones.”

My eyes raced across the familiar, sharp handwriting, absorbing words that threatened to rewrite every truth I thought I knew.

“Your mother did not kill me out of greed, Alessandro. Nor did my brother betray us for simple power. They tried to stop a war that would have wiped our entire bloodline off the face of the earth. The woman you called your bride—Isabella—was never a Romano. Her true family name is Vance... the sister of the man you trust as your head of internal security.”

I stumbled backward, the letter shaking in my hand.

I whipped my head up, staring directly at Marco, who stood by the door with his hands neatly folded in front of him.

Marco wasn't sweating. He wasn't shocked.

A slow, chilling smile spread across his scarred face—a smile I had never seen in ten years of absolute loyalty.

“And Vance,” the letter continued in my father's sharp ink, “was never your protector. He was the architect. The entire coup, the forged documents, the library attack, and the betrayal were all staged to push you into executing Julian and exiling your mother—leaving the entire Moretti empire legally and physically unprotected, ripe for the taking by the true syndicate waiting in the shadows.”

The study door clicked shut behind me.

Heavy footfalls echoed from the hallway as a dozen armed men in black tactical gear—not my enforcers, but strangers wearing the insignia of the European Cartel—poured through the side doors, their assault rifles raised, locking lasers directly onto my chest.

Marco stepped forward, casually drawing his sidearm and leveling it right between my eyes.

"Checkmate, Boss," Marco whispered, his voice smooth as silk. "It's a lonely thing, sitting at the top."

Before I could reach for the Beretta tucked beneath my suit jacket, the lights in the study flickered and died, plunging the room into absolute darkness, save for the red glow of a dozen laser sights closing in for the final kill.
