Chapter 15 - Alliance in the ShadowsThe Atlantic waves crashed violently against the jagged rocks below us, throwing a fine mist of salt water into the cold night air.

"Your brother thinks he just won the war," I said, looking back up toward the burning estate where smoke billowed into the starless sky. "He thinks the Moretti syndicate is leaderless and broken."
"He's arrogant," Sophia replied, stepping into the waiting speedboat and tossing me a heavy duffel bag loaded with encrypted satellite comms, C4 explosives, and twin HK416 rifles. "Just like every other man who ever sat in that house thinking he owned New York."

"That's where the Marseille Cartel is unloading their primary shipping containers tonight. My brother is holding a victory summit with the remaining regional capos at midnight."
I looked down at the glowing screen. Red Hook. The historic shipping hub of the East Coast—a labyrinth of rusted steel warehouses, deep-water slips, and isolated concrete docks.
"Midnight," I murmured, a cold, dangerous smile touching my lips. "That gives us exactly forty-five minutes to turn his victory party into a graveyard."

Sophia pulled a custom suppressor from her pocket and screwed it onto the barrel of her pistol, her eyes locked on mine with absolute, lethal resolve.
"Let's go home, boss."
