Chapter 10 - The Final Blueprint

Valeria adjusted the microphone on the podium, her voice carrying clear and steady across the sunlit plaza where the new technology center was rising from the ashes of her ex-husband’s empire.
“Seven years ago,” Valeria began, her gaze sweeping over the crowd of investors, journalists, and civic leaders, “we were told that true success belongs only to those who shout the loudest, build the fastest, and forget the people who stood beside them in the dark.”
In the back of the plaza, behind a line of federal security agents, Adrián stood in handcuffs, watching through a gap in the crowd. His chest heaved with every breath, the weight of his total erasure pressing down on him like a mountain.
“We built an empire once on ambition and borrowed foundations,” Valeria continued, her voice ringing with quiet, unshakeable authority. “Today, we build something stronger. We build something real. Because true power isn't about the name on the door, the cars in the driveway, or the titles we claim for ourselves in the dark.”
She paused, looking down briefly toward the front row where six-year-old Camila was proudly holding up a brand-new, glitter-covered cardboard medal—this one featuring a drawing of a soaring eagle and a shining sun.
“True power,” Valeria said, her eyes lifting to meet Adrián’s hollow stare across the plaza, “is knowing who you are when every mask is stripped away.”
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause. Flashbulbs flared across the stage, capturing the brilliant, unyielding smile on Valeria’s face as she raised the golden shovel to break ground for the new foundation.

Adrián lowered his head.
There were no cameras pointing at him. There was no secretary waiting to flatter him. There was no empire left to claim.
