Chapter 4 - AMBUSH AT DEAD MAN'S COVE

The night sky was shattered by the blinding glare of high-powered spotlights.
Three massive, grey war-grade patrol boats hemmed in Victor’s yacht from all sides, their high-caliber machine guns trained directly on the deck. The churning water beneath them surged violently as the vessels forced Victor’s boat to a complete halt near a jagged cliff known as Dead Man’s Cove.
Through a loudspeaker mounted on the lead vessel, a harsh, metallic voice boomed across the water:
"VICTOR VANCE! YOU ARE OUTNUMBERED AND OUTGUNNED! SURRENDER THE GIRL AND THE POCKET WATCH, OR WE WILL SINK THIS VESSEL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA!"
Inside the control room, Emily watched the radar screen glowing with hostile blips. Her breath was hitched in her throat, but surprisingly, she felt no fear. The anger that had been buried deep inside her for ten years was finally rising to the surface.
"Who is controlling those ships?" Emily asked.
"Marcus’s right-hand man," Victor replied calmly, adjusting his cufflinks as if he were preparing for a casual dinner. "Commander Drake. A mercenary who executed three of your father’s bodyguards ten years ago."
Emily’s eyes flashed with cold rage. "Then he doesn't get to leave this cove alive."
Victor chuckled darkly. "That’s my blood running through your veins." He turned to his chief security officer. "Execute Protocol Omega."
Outside, heavy iron panels on the side of Victor’s sleek yacht began to slide open with a mechanical hiss.
Commander Drake, standing on the deck of the lead gunboat with binoculars pressed to his eyes, scoffed. "What is he doing? Trying to fight three naval gunships with a luxury yacht?"
Suddenly, Drake’s radar operator screamed in panic: "Sir! Signal interference! Electronic warfare pulse detected! Our targeting systems are failing!"
Before Drake could react, hidden automated defense turrets rose from the deck of Victor’s yacht. They weren't standard firearms—they were high-frequency military EMP cannons.
THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
Invisible waves of concentrated electromagnetic energy slammed into the three hostile gunboats. Instantly, all their lights died. Their engines sputtered and failed. The high-caliber machine guns froze mid-rotation, rendered completely useless as their electronic guidance systems fried.
Darkness enveloped the three mercenary ships.
"What happened?!" Drake screamed, pulling out his hand-held radio, but it emitted only dead static. "Get the backup generators online! Now!"
BOOM!
A grappling hook slammed into the railing of Drake’s ship. Then another. And another.
Through the heavy fog, Victor’s tactical team rappelled onto the darkened gunboat like shadows. Gunfire echoed through the night—short, surgical bursts of suppressed fire. Within two minutes, Drake’s entire mercenary force was neutralized without Victor’s team losing a single man.
The heavy door to Drake’s command cabin was kicked off its hinges.
Drake stumbled backward, pulling a combat knife, but a heavy tactical boot kicked him squarely in the chest, sending him crashing onto the steel floor.
Victor stepped into the dimly lit room, followed closely by Emily.
Drake spat blood onto the floor, staring up at Victor with pure hatred. "You think you’ve won, Victor? Lord Marcus controls the entire city! The police, the mayor, the trade unions... you’re walking into a slaughterhouse!"
Emily stepped forward, her red gown swishing against the blood-stained deck. She looked down at the man who had helped destroy her family.
"Where is Marcus right now?" Emily asked, her voice dangerously calm.
Drake laughed mockingly. "Why would I tell a little waitress?"
Emily didn't hesitate. She grabbed a heavy steel tactical flashlight from the desk and swung it with all her strength directly into Drake’s jaw.
CRACK!
Drake dropped to the floor, groaning in agony, holding his broken jaw.
"I asked a question," Emily said, her face devoid of any warmth. "Where is he?"
Drake, terrified by the ruthless fire in the young girl's eyes, stammered through broken teeth: "The... the Grand Gala at the Royal Sovereign Hotel tonight... He’s hosting the merger announcement... He’s officially taking over the Vance global assets tonight..."

Emily looked at Victor. "The Royal Sovereign Hotel. That’s where the elite of the city are gathering tonight."
Victor smiled proudly. "Then it seems we have a party to crash."
