CHAPTER 1 – The Courtroom Where Everyone Thought She Had Already Lost

The courtroom was packed long before the judge entered.

Television cameras lined the back wall. Reporters whispered to one another, convinced they were about to witness another high-profile corporate fraud case ending with a guilty verdict.

At the defense table sat Emily Carter, a young prosecutor-turned-whistleblower whose reputation had been destroyed overnight.

Across from her sat billionaire CEO Richard Hale, surrounded by an army of attorneys wearing smug smiles.

The media had already chosen its villain.

Emily.

For weeks, every headline called her a disgraced lawyer desperate for attention.

"She fabricated evidence."

"She wants revenge after being fired."

"She'll be facing prison herself."

Richard barely looked at her.

He leaned toward his attorney and whispered loud enough for nearby reporters to hear.

"Five more minutes and she'll disappear forever."

The courtroom chuckled.

Emily never reacted.

She simply stared at the polished wooden floor, clutching a clear evidence bag resting beside her chair.

Inside was an old black smartphone.

It looked worthless.

No one paid attention to it.

The judge adjusted his glasses.

"Ms. Carter, this is your final opportunity to provide evidence supporting your allegations."

The room became silent.

Richard smiled.

His lawyers smiled.

Even the jury looked exhausted.

Emily slowly stood.

Her voice barely rose above a whisper.

"I don't need witnesses anymore."

She lifted the sealed evidence bag into the air.

"I only need this phone."

The courtroom erupted with laughter.

One attorney couldn't hide his grin.

"That's the miracle evidence?"

Richard folded his arms.

"That phone has been dead for years."

Emily looked directly into his eyes.

For the first time...

Richard stopped smiling.

May you like

Because she smiled back.

And that terrified him.
