CHAPTER 7 – The Bullet That Changed Everything

Time seemed to stop.
The tiny red laser dot rested perfectly over Emily's heart.
No one moved.
No one breathed.
Richard Hale smiled from the balcony.
"I warned you," he said. "You were never fighting one man. You were fighting an entire empire."
Emily closed her eyes.
This was how it ended.
Or so she thought.
Suddenly, someone shoved her to the floor.
A gunshot echoed through the cathedral.
The crowd screamed.
The sniper's bullet struck the woman who had pushed Emily aside.
Her mother.
Blood spread across her black coat as she collapsed into Emily's arms.
"No!" Emily cried, desperately trying to stop the bleeding.
Her mother smiled weakly.
"I promised I'd protect you... no matter how long it took."
Before losing consciousness, she slipped a tiny memory card into Emily's hand.
"This... is the real empire."
At that exact moment, armed agents stormed the cathedral from every entrance.
They weren't police.
They were a secret federal task force that had spent years infiltrating Richard Hale's organization.
Richard's smile disappeared.
For the first time in his life...
He looked afraid.
As officers surrounded the balcony, Richard laughed one last time.
"You can arrest me."
"But you'll never find the money."
Emily looked down at the memory card.
Then she smiled.
"I already have."
May you like
Inside the memory card was a complete ledger showing over fifty billion dollars hidden across hundreds of offshore accounts—along with the names of every politician, judge, billionaire, and executive connected to the network.
The empire had just begun to collapse.
