CHAPTER 4 – The Daughter He Never Knew Was Coming for Him
Richard's lawyers abandoned their seats.
One by one, they refused to continue defending him.
But Richard was no longer looking at the judge.
He was looking at Emily.
"You don't understand," he whispered. "Your mother betrayed me first."
Emily's eyes filled with horror.
"What did you say?"
Richard laughed softly, broken and cruel.
"She was going to expose me. She was carrying my child."
The courtroom went silent.
Emily could not breathe.
Then Richard said the words that shattered everything.
"You are my daughter."
Reporters gasped. The jury froze. The judge slammed his gavel, but nobody heard it over the chaos.
Emily stared at the monster in front of her.
The man she had spent years hunting...
was her father.
Richard slowly stepped toward her.
"I can make this disappear. Come with me. We can rebuild everything."
Emily picked up the old phone.
Then she pressed play one last time.
Her mother's voice filled the courtroom.
"Emily, if you ever hear this... don't believe his tears."
Richard stopped walking.
"Justice doesn't need blood," her mother whispered.
"It needs courage."
Emily looked at the judge.
"I request immediate arrest."
The judge nodded.
Richard Hale was handcuffed in front of the entire world.
But as officers dragged him away, he turned back and smiled.
"You think this ends with me?"
