🔥 CHAPTER 4 — "THE BILLIONAIRE ORDERED THE RANGER SILENCED... BUT HE NEVER EXPECTED WHO WOULD TESTIFY AGAINST HIM!"

Three nights after the bunker was discovered, Thomas heard an engine outside his cabin.

It was nearly midnight.

No one ever visited that late.

He quietly looked through the window.

A black SUV stood in the snow with its headlights turned off.

Two men stepped out.

Neither knocked.

Instead, they walked around the cabin, peering through every window.

Thomas immediately called the sheriff.

Then he quietly turned off every light inside.

The men waited for several minutes before driving away.

The next morning, detectives arrived with alarming news.

The fingerprints collected inside the underground bunker belonged to employees of one of the largest timber companies in the state.

The company's owner was billionaire Victor Hale.

Publicly, Hale presented himself as an environmental philanthropist.

He donated millions to conservation projects.

He appeared on magazine covers planting trees with schoolchildren.

But investigators had quietly suspected him for years.

They had never found proof.

Until now.

Search warrants were issued immediately.

Police raided Hale's offices, warehouses, and private estate.

Hidden accounting records revealed millions of dollars flowing through shell companies linked to illegal logging and wildlife trafficking.

Employees began cooperating with investigators.

Drivers admitted transporting protected animals across state lines.

Former accountants confessed to falsifying environmental reports.

Then came the biggest surprise of all.

Victor Hale's own personal assistant walked into the prosecutor's office carrying a locked briefcase.

Inside were years of secret recordings, financial ledgers, and signed contracts connecting Hale directly to every crime.

"I can't stay silent anymore," she said.

"He threatened everyone."

"He thought no one would ever stand against him."

The evidence was overwhelming.

Within forty-eight hours, Victor Hale was arrested as cameras flashed outside the courthouse.

As officers placed him into a police vehicle, he turned toward Thomas.

"This isn't over."

Thomas simply looked back.

"It already is."

Months later, the forest slowly healed.

Thousands of young trees were planted.

The rescued animals were released back into the wild.

New cameras and ranger patrols protected every entrance to the reserve.

One snowy morning, Thomas returned to the same clearing where he had nearly died.

The old rope marks had long disappeared from the pine tree.

He placed one hand gently against its bark.

A familiar howl echoed across the valley.

Thomas smiled.

High on the ridge stood the great gray alpha wolf.

For a long moment, neither moved.

Then the wolf dipped its head once—as if saying goodbye.

Moments later, it vanished into the endless forest.

Thomas never saw the alpha again.

But every winter, fresh wolf tracks appeared near his cabin after the first snowfall.

Close enough to remind him that he was never truly alone.
