CHAPTER 6 — THE DEAD MAN'S LAST FILE

Three months after Victor Harlan's conviction, Elena believed the nightmare was finally over.

She was wrong.

At exactly 2:17 a.m., her encrypted office computer came alive.

No one had logged in.

No one knew the password.

A single video began to play.

Daniel Ross.

The accountant everyone thought had died years earlier.

He looked directly into the camera.

"If you're watching this, Elena... then Victor wasn't the mastermind."

Her heartbeat stopped.

Behind Daniel was a wall covered with photographs.

Politicians.

Judges.

Bank executives.

CEOs.

Every face connected by red strings.

At the very center...

Victor Harlan.

Crossed out.

"Victor was only collecting money," Daniel continued. "Someone else owns the entire machine."

The video ended with one sentence.

Find Black Ledger Zero.

Hours later, Daniel's safe-deposit box was opened under court supervision.

Inside sat only one object.

A black leather notebook.

Every page was blank.

Except the last.

"Trust no one wearing the Vale crest."

Elena slowly looked toward the conference room...

Where several executives wearing her own family emblem were already waiting.
