CHAPTER 9 — THE WOMAN WHO HAD NO PAST

The masked intruder never fired a shot.

Instead...

She handed Elena a sealed envelope.

Then disappeared.

Inside was an old photograph.

A little girl.

Standing beside Elena's late mother.

Written on the back were six words.

"She is your sister. She survived."

Impossible.

Elena's mother had given birth only once.

Or so she had always been told.

The DNA test returned forty-eight hours later.

99.9998%.

The mysterious woman in the photograph was indeed her biological sister.

Her name was Sophia.

She had spent twenty-eight years inside the Black Crown organization after being kidnapped as an infant and raised under a false identity.

When the sisters finally met, neither spoke.

They simply embraced.

But Sophia brought terrifying news.

"There are twelve people above Victor."

"I've seen only one."

"He calls himself..."

"The Chairman."

Before Elena could ask another question...

Sophia collapsed.

A tiny needle protruded from her neck.

A slow-acting poison.
