CHAPTER 5: The Secret Room Beneath the House

The four masked men rushed toward the front door.
CRASH!
The first kick shattered the lock.
Emma grabbed Ethan and pulled him behind the kitchen counter.
David instinctively reached for the old flip phone.
He pressed the only contact.
GUARDIAN.
The call connected immediately.
No greeting.
Only one sentence.
"Leave through the basement. Now."
Then the line went dead.
David stared at the lawyer.
"Basement? There isn't one."
The lawyer looked at the old fireplace.
"There is."
He rushed to the fireplace and twisted the gold pocket watch into a strange hole hidden beneath the mantel.
A loud mechanical click echoed through the house.
The entire fireplace shifted sideways.
Behind it...
A narrow staircase descended into complete darkness.
Emma gasped.
"My God..."
The masked men were already inside.
Furniture crashed.
Glass shattered.
"Find the documents!" one of them shouted.
David grabbed Ethan.
"Run!"
The family disappeared down the hidden staircase just as the attackers entered the living room.
The stone wall silently slid back into place.
The men searched every room.
Nothing.
No family.
No documents.
No hidden passage.
Their leader slammed his fist against the wall.
"They couldn't have vanished!"
Meanwhile...
David's family descended nearly thirty feet underground.
At the bottom was a massive hidden chamber.
Rows of steel shelves lined the walls.
Maps.
Blueprints.
Old photographs.
Boxes labeled with names of politicians...
Bank executives...
Judges...
Even billionaires.
Emma's face turned pale.
"This isn't an inheritance..."
"It's evidence."
The lawyer slowly nodded.
"Your father wasn't hiding money."
"He was collecting proof."
David opened one dusty file.
The first page contained Victor's name.
The second page showed secret offshore bank transfers.
The third...
Contained signatures from government officials.
This wasn't simple fraud.
It was an organization worth billions.
Then Ethan wandered toward an old wooden desk.
"Dad..."
"I found another button."
Before anyone could stop him...
He pressed it.
A projector hidden in the ceiling flickered to life.
An old video appeared on the wall.
David's father looked straight into the camera.
"If you're seeing this..."
"...then I'm already dead."
"And Victor has finally made his move."
David felt tears fill his eyes.
His father smiled sadly.
"But listen carefully..."
"Victor isn't the man you should fear."
He paused.
Then revealed the sentence that changed everything.
"The person giving Victor orders... is someone in your own family."
The screen suddenly went black.
Emma slowly turned toward David.
Because at that exact moment...
Someone else was already standing silently inside the hidden room.
May you like
Watching them.
