CHAPTER 5 — "The Man Outside the Door"

The dancers were still kneeling when the studio door quietly clicked shut.

No one noticed.

No one except Isabella.

Her gentle smile faded for the briefest moment.

She had seen the shadow disappear through the narrow window in the hallway.

Someone had been listening.

Someone who should never have heard the truth.

...

Across town, inside a luxurious penthouse overlooking the city skyline, a silver-haired man slammed a thick leather folder onto an antique desk.

His hands trembled—not with age, but with fear.

Richard Carter.

Daniel's seventy-year-old father.

Chairman of the Grand Academy Foundation.

Guardian of the Carter family's reputation.

His phone buzzed.

"The old woman is back," a nervous voice whispered.

Richard closed his eyes.

"I was afraid this day would come."

He slowly opened a hidden drawer beneath the desk.

Inside lay dozens of yellowed documents tied together with a faded red ribbon.

On top rested a familiar black-and-white photograph.

A young Isabella Laurent smiling beside Edward Carter.

Not as enemies.

As close friends.

Richard whispered to himself,

"Father... why didn't you burn these?"

He pulled out a handwritten diary.

The final page carried Edward Carter's unmistakable handwriting.

Richard had never allowed anyone to read it.

Not even Daniel.

Because those final pages contained a confession capable of destroying the Carter family's legacy forever.

...

Meanwhile, back at the academy...

Daniel gathered every student in the rehearsal hall.

"I owe all of you an apology."

"I judged someone based solely on her appearance."

"I forgot the first lesson ballet is supposed to teach."

"Humility."

The students lowered their heads in shame.

Lily, the girl who had laughed the loudest, stepped forward with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"I almost recorded her to make fun of her online."

"I've never been so ashamed of myself."

Isabella gently took the young dancer's hands.

"We all make mistakes."

"The important part is deciding who we become after them."

Daniel turned toward the class.

"Beginning tomorrow..."

"Every student will study Isabella Laurent's original choreography."

One boy looked confused.

"But... those choreographies disappeared decades ago."

Isabella smiled.

"They didn't disappear."

"I still remember every single step."

A wave of excitement swept through the room.

The greatest lost ballet ever created...

...was about to return.

None of them realized they were already being watched.

Outside the academy, a black luxury sedan remained parked across the street.

A man wearing dark sunglasses raised a camera.

Click.

Click.

Click.

Every photograph captured Isabella.

Every photograph was immediately sent to Richard Carter.

Only seconds later, Richard issued one chilling order.

"Don't let her perform."

"Whatever it costs."

...

That evening, Isabella returned to the tiny apartment where she had lived alone for nearly thirty years.

The walls were covered with faded ballet posters.

Old medals rested inside dusty boxes.

There were no trophies displayed proudly.

Only memories packed away where no one could see them.

As she unlocked the door...

She stopped.

Something felt wrong.

The apartment was silent.

Too silent.

She slowly stepped inside.

Her heart sank.

Every drawer had been pulled open.

Cabinets emptied.

Photographs scattered across the floor.

Someone had searched the entire apartment.

But they hadn't taken money.

They hadn't taken jewelry.

Only one thing was missing.

Edward Carter's original diary.

May you like

The only complete proof of Isabella's innocence...

...had disappeared.
