Chapter 4 – The Cleaner With the Sterling Blood

Amelia stood frozen beside the cleaning cart.
For years, she had cleaned the floors of Sterling Crown Jewelers before sunrise and after closing. She had polished the glass cases that protected diamonds worth more than her entire life.
She had watched rich women try on necklaces.
She had watched executives laugh over champagne.
She had watched Richard Sterling walk past her without ever looking at her face.
Now everyone was staring.
Vanessa whispered, “This is insane.”
Eleanor walked to Amelia and gently took her hand.
“This is your sister, Richard.”
Richard shook his head.
“No… I would have known.”
Eleanor’s voice hardened.
“You never looked.”
Those three words destroyed him.
Amelia’s eyes were wet, but her voice stayed quiet.
“I didn’t come here for revenge.”
Richard stepped toward her.
“Then why?”
Amelia looked at the necklace behind the glass.
“Because my mother said my father made that necklace for me before I was born.”
Eleanor nodded.
“He did.”
“But when he found out Amelia would inherit half the company under my family trust, he erased us both.”
Harold Bishop suddenly turned toward the exit.
Eleanor’s voice cut through the room.
“Leaving so soon, Harold?”
Security blocked the door.
Richard stared at Harold.
“What does she mean?”
Harold’s face turned gray.
Eleanor opened another folder.
“Your father was not the only one who signed the documents declaring me mentally unfit.”
She placed three copies on the counter.
“Harold signed.”
“Your family lawyer signed.”
“And you, Richard…”
Richard’s eyes widened.
“I was seventeen.”
“You told me it was paperwork for boarding school.”
Eleanor’s expression softened for the first time.
“I know.”
“That is why I did not come to destroy you.”
Richard broke.
Tears rolled down his face as he looked at Amelia.
“I’m sorry.”
Amelia gave a painful smile.
“Sorry doesn’t pay hospital bills.”
Richard turned to Vanessa.
“Why was her claim denied?”
Vanessa’s face went white.
“I… I don’t handle—”
Eleanor interrupted.
“She denied it personally.”
Vanessa shook her head violently.
“No! I didn’t know who she was!”
Eleanor leaned closer.
“That is exactly the problem.”
“You thought she was nobody.”
The recording phones captured every word.
Richard looked at the board members.
“Open the vault.”
Harold shouted, “You can’t!”
Richard’s eyes darkened.
“Why not?”
Harold said nothing.
Eleanor answered instead.
“Because inside that vault is the original trust.”
“And once it is opened…”
“Amelia becomes the majority owner of Sterling Crown.”
The entire showroom erupted.
Vanessa stumbled backward.
Harold whispered, “This company will collapse.”
Eleanor smiled coldly.
“No.”
“The lie will collapse.”
Then Amelia stepped forward, her voice shaking but strong.
“I don’t want diamonds.”
“I don’t want revenge.”
“I want the truth.”
Richard looked at his sister.
Then he turned to the cameras still recording.
And for the first time in Sterling history, the CEO bowed his head publicly.
“Then the truth starts today.”
But as the vault key touched the glass counter…
Harold suddenly laughed.
“You’re too late.”
Eleanor froze.

Harold smiled like a man with nothing left to lose.
“The vault was emptied last night.”
