Chapter 6 – The Dead Billionaire's Final Confession

Nobody dared breathe.
Richard’s hands shook as Eleanor broke the wax seal.
Inside was a handwritten letter.
Every word had been written by his father.
The billionaire founder everyone believed had died with honor.
Eleanor began reading aloud.
“If you are reading this…
Then I have failed my family.”
Silence swallowed the showroom.
“Harold Bishop has spent years convincing me that protecting the company required destroying the people I loved.”
Harold staggered backward.
Richard stared at him.
The letter continued.
“I allowed Eleanor to disappear because I believed it would save Sterling Crown.”
“Instead…”
“I destroyed my wife.”
Amelia began crying quietly.
Eleanor could barely continue reading.
“Our daughter Amelia is my greatest shame.”
“Not because she was born…”
“But because I lacked the courage to acknowledge her.”
Richard covered his face.
Every lie his family had lived collapsed in a single paragraph.
Then Eleanor reached the final page.
Her voice trembled.
“There is one last truth.”
Everyone leaned forward.
“Sterling Crown was never mine.”
Confused whispers spread through the crowd.
Richard frowned.
“What?”
Eleanor kept reading.
“The original investment that built this company came entirely from Eleanor's family.”
“Legally…”
“Every Sterling fortune belongs to Eleanor and her descendants.”
Vanessa gasped.
The board members looked as if the floor had disappeared beneath them.
Harold suddenly shouted,
“That letter proves nothing!”
But before anyone could respond…
The boutique's massive television screens turned on by themselves.
A grainy security video appeared.
The timestamp showed 31 years earlier.
The image revealed Richard Sterling Sr. sitting in the hidden vault.
Facing the camera, he said,
“If anyone ever claims this letter is fake…”
“…watch this recording.”
He held up the same envelope.
Then looked directly into the camera.
“If Harold Bishop is standing there…”
“…call the police.”
Harold spun toward the exit.
“Run!” he shouted to no one.
But the security guards had already locked every door.
Richard stepped between Harold and the entrance.
“You stole my family…”
“You stole my sister…”
“You stole thirty years of our lives.”
Harold smiled one final time.
“You still don't understand.”
Richard narrowed his eyes.
“What?”
Harold laughed softly.
“The company was never my real prize.”
He slowly reached into his pocket…
…and placed a tiny silver key on the floor.
Eleanor froze.
She recognized it immediately.
It wasn't a vault key.
It belonged to Safety Deposit Box #117 at a private bank in Switzerland.
Richard picked it up.
“What’s inside?”
Harold’s grin widened.
“The one thing your father loved more than this company…”
May you like
“…and the one secret that will make every member of the Sterling family question who they really are.”
To be continued…
