CHAPTER 1 — The Night They Chose a Human Sacrifice

The snowstorm swallowed every sound except laughter.
Six wealthy hunters stood in a frozen clearing deep inside the northern forest, their expensive rifles gleaming beneath the pale moonlight. To them, tonight wasn't about survival.
It was entertainment.
In the center of the clearing, an old man named Samuel Carter sat tied tightly against the trunk of a towering pine tree. Thick ropes dug into his wrists until blood mixed with melting snow.
He hadn't stolen anything.
He hadn't hurt anyone.
His only crime was refusing to sell the small cabin his late wife had built with him forty years earlier. The hunting club wanted the land for a luxury lodge. When Samuel refused every offer, they decided to make an example of him.
"You'll change your mind," sneered Victor Hale, the billionaire leading the group.
Samuel stared silently into the darkness.
"I already gave you my answer."
Victor smiled coldly.
"Then let's see if the wolves can convince you."
The hunters dumped fresh deer meat around the old man's feet before retreating to a nearby observation platform hidden among the trees. Cameras were switched on.
They wanted footage.
Not of hunting wolves...
But of wolves hunting a man.
The temperature dropped below freezing.
Minutes passed.
Then the forest became silent.
Too silent.
Even the wind stopped moving.
One hunter whispered nervously.
"They're here."
From between the trees, glowing golden eyes slowly appeared.
One pair.
Then another.
Then another.
Seven massive wolves emerged from the darkness, moving like ghosts across the snow.
Samuel closed his eyes.
"So... this is how it ends."
The Alpha Wolf stepped forward first.
Massive.
Scarred.
Silent.
The hunters raised their cameras, smiling.
"Wait until it tears him apart..."
But instead...
The enormous wolf stopped inches from Samuel's face.
It sniffed him once.
Twice.
Then something impossible happened.
The Alpha slowly lowered its head...
As if bowing.
Every other wolf followed.
The laughter on the platform disappeared.
Victor frowned.
"What the hell are they doing?"
Nobody answered.
May you like
Because every wolf in the pack had suddenly turned away from Samuel...
And was now staring directly at the hunters.
