🔥 CHAPTER 4 — THE CREATURE IN THE FOREST WASN'T HUNTING THE LIONESS... IT WAS HUNTING ME 😨

The room became completely silent.
The researchers enlarged the image again and again.
A massive shape stood half-hidden beneath the trees.
Its shoulders were enormous.
Its scarred face was barely visible between the branches.
One ranger inhaled sharply.
"Oh no..."
"What is it?" I asked.
He pointed at the screen.
"That's not another lion."
The oldest wildlife tracker leaned closer.
"I know that male."
Everyone turned toward him.
"They call him Ghost."
The legendary lion had disappeared almost four years earlier after surviving countless territorial battles.
He was believed to be dead.
Yet there he was.
Older.
Larger.
Covered with scars.
His pale eyes never left the cliff.
"He wasn't interested in the cub," the tracker whispered.
"He was watching you."
A chill ran down my spine.
"Why me?"
The ranger slowly played the video frame by frame.
Ghost never moved while the lioness stood near me.
But the exact moment she positioned herself between me and the other males...
Ghost quietly stepped backward into the forest.
As if...
He had decided to leave.
Nobody could explain it.
One week later, curiosity overcame my fear.
I joined a team of researchers returning to the same mountain to place new camera traps around the canyon.
The forest felt strangely quiet.
Too quiet.
Even the birds had disappeared.
One of the trackers suddenly knelt beside the trail.
Fresh footprints.
Huge ones.
Ghost.
The prints were only minutes old.
My pulse quickened.
The team followed the trail cautiously until they reached the very cliff where everything had happened.
There, on the flat stone where I had pulled the cub to safety, lay something impossible.
A fresh antelope leg.
Untouched.
No bite marks.
No signs of scavengers.
Just... placed there.
The trackers stared in disbelief.
One whispered the words no one wanted to say aloud.
"It looks like..."
"...a gift."
No one laughed.
Because every experienced ranger knew one terrifying fact.
Wild lions never leave food behind.
May you like
Unless...
They choose to.
