Chapter 6 - The Eye in the Walls

The realization hit like a physical blow to the stomach.

Someone hadn't just lived in this house forty years ago—someone was currently inside the house walls right now, watching us through hidden cameras.

"GET OUT! EVERYONE OUT OF THE HOUSE NOW!" Mark roared, turning toward the doorway.

Suddenly, the bedroom door slammed shut with violent force. The mechanical lock clicked into place from the outside.

Over the house intercom system, a calm, chillingly familiar voice echoed into the room:

“I’m so glad you finally came home, son. It took you forty years, but you brought me my granddaughter.”

Rada threw herself against the bedroom door, barking furiously. Mark grabbed a heavy metal chair and began smashing it against the wooden panels, trying to break through.

"Who are you?!" Mark screamed at the ceiling speaker. "What do you want from us?!"

“I never left, Mark. I've been living in the subterranean bunker beneath this house since 1988. I fed the dog high-frequency sounds through the wall speakers to force you to open that vault. I needed you to find the key... because the outer door could only be unlocked from your side.”
