Chapter 18 - THE ULTIMATUMI didn’t flinch. I didn’t blink. I simply leaned back in my leather chair, crossed my arms, and stared straight into Arthur Sterling’s cold, calculating eyes.

“You’re talking about a charter written seventy years ago, Arthur,” I said calmly. “A charter based on fraudulent land titles that your brother-in-law stole from the Carter family.”

Arthur’s polite smile faltered for a fraction of a second. A flicker of genuine surprise crossed his aged features.

“Ah,” Arthur murmured, narrowing his eyes. “So you found the sub-basement. I wondered if little Sofia’s little treasure hunt would ever pay off. Pity about her stroke, wasn’t it? Such a tragic accident.”

“It wasn't an accident, and you know it,” I said, my voice dropping an octave, carrying the full, terrifying authority of a man who had nothing left to lose. “Vivienne tried to finish what you started. And now you’ve walked yourself straight into a federal wiretap.”

I raised two fingers—the exact same signal I had used at the engagement dinner months ago.

The heavy boardroom doors slammed shut. State and federal law enforcement agents, led by the FBI’s financial crimes division, poured into the room, surrounding Arthur Sterling and his entire legal team before they could even blink.

“Arthur Sterling, you are under arrest for corporate racketeering, securities fraud, and conspiracy to commit homicide,” the lead federal agent announced, slapping steel handcuffs onto Arthur’s wrists with a sharp, echoing click.

Arthur didn't resist. As they dragged him away toward the elevators, he turned his head, staring at me with a twisted, manic grin.

“You think you’ve won, Damian? You can’t save the house. Greystone Manor is cursed. Everyone who touches it burns!”
