As the executives filed out of the glass-walled boardroom, Marcus lingered behind, leaning against the doorway with a warm, admiring smile.
"You know, Elena," Marcus said, folding his arms. "If someone had told me five years ago that my family’s entire legacy would be saved, elevated, and expanded by my disgraced brother’s former wife, I would have laughed them out of the room."
I turned toward him, a confident, knowing smile playing on my lips. "Never underestimate a woman who has nothing left to lose, Marcus. That's when she becomes dangerous."
