Chapter 8 - The Rescue MissionThirty minutes later, rain was pouring heavily over the desolate industrial district on 4th Street.

Outside a dilapidated, abandoned medical clinic, Arthur sat in a hijacked hospital transport van, watching the perimeter through the rain-streaked windshield. His burn scars throbbed in the damp air, and his hands trembled violently against the steering wheel.

He stared at his hands in the dim dashboard light.

"Not today," Arthur muttered to himself, gripping his fists tight until his knuckles turned white. "Hold steady. Just for one more hour."

He stepped out into the pouring rain, moving silently toward the back entrance of the clinic. The building was heavily guarded by four elite private security contractors—Harrison’s personal clean-up crew.

Arthur didn't use guns. He used the storm, the shadows, and the environment.

He disabled the building's main breaker box, plunging the interior into pitch blackness. Moving through the dark corridors like an invisible force of nature, he eliminated the guards one by one with swift, non-lethal strikes, using the tactical knowledge he had spent a lifetime mastering.

In the innermost room of the facility, tied to a hospital bed and hooked to a sedative drip, was Maya Sterling. She was pale, exhausted, and barely conscious, but her eyes filled with wild hope as the heavy steel door was kicked off its hinges.

Arthur stepped into the room, cutting her restraints with a tactical blade.

"Arthur...?" Maya whispered weakly, her voice cracking. "Is... is my baby alive? They told me she died at birth..."

"She's alive, Maya," Arthur said, gently lifting her off the bed and wrapping a dry blanket around her shoulders. "She's safe. She's strong. And she looks just like Marcus."

Maya burst into breathless tears, burying her face against Arthur’s chest. "Where is she?"

"She's waiting for you," Arthur said.

Suddenly, the high-pitched sound of a tactical radio on one of the downed guards clicked to life. General Harrison's furious voice cut through the static.

"All units, Vance has taken the mother! Execute Contingency Plan Alpha! Destroy the hospital's central power grid and burn St. Jude to the ground! Leave no witnesses!"

Arthur’s blood ran cold.

Clara was still inside St. Jude.
