Chapter 5 - Stripped to the Bone

The amphitheater erupted into a chorus of gasps and outraged murmurs. Dr. Henderson slammed his gavel down, his face purple with fury.

"Dr. Bradley Jenkins," Henderson’s voice thundered, dripping with absolute disgust. "By unanimous vote of the medical ethics board, your medical license is hereby revoked, effective immediately. You are permanently barred from practicing medicine in any state within this country."

Bradley slumped forward, his head hitting the wooden table with a dull thud. He began to sob—not tears of remorse, but the pathetic, whimpering cries of a cornered animal realizing his empire of lies had crumbled to dust.

Hannah stood up, her face twisted in panic, trying to back toward the exit. "Wait! It was all him! He manipulated me! I was just an intern—!"

"Sit down, Ms. Vance," Victoria Vance said smoothly, stepping out from the shadows near the back door with a pair of local police officers right behind her. "You’re not going anywhere. Tampering with hospital records, conspiracy to commit medical malpractice, and aiding in illegal drug diversion. That’s a nice little federal package waiting for you."

The officers stepped forward, clicking handcuffs onto Hannah’s wrists as she shrieked and kicked, dragging her out of the room while her designer heels clicked uselessly against the floor.

As the doors swung shut behind her, I turned my gaze back to Bradley.

He looked up, his eyes bloodshot, desperate, and pathetic. "Allison... please... we were married... don't do this to me... take everything, just don't put me in prison..."

I leaned down, whispering so only he could hear.

"Prison is too good for you, Bradley. You wanted to play God with my body and my son's life? Now you get to see what happens when a mortal destroys your entire universe."
