CHAPTER 3 – THE ROOM WITH NO FOOTPRINTS

Ethan reached the hospital in fourteen minutes.
The hallway outside Room 417 was flooded with nurses, police officers, and terrified whispers.
The old man was alive.
Barely.
But someone had tried to finish what Richard Carter started thirty years ago.
Ethan stepped into the room and saw the machines blinking red. On the floor lay a single black leather glove.
His uncle always wore gloves like that.
When Ethan turned to the window, his stomach dropped.
Written in the rain fog on the glass were six words:
“Your father should have stayed dead.”
Ethan backed away, shaking.
His father was alive.
The secret was real.
And Richard knew Ethan had found the box.
That night, Ethan ordered his security team to investigate every hospital camera. But every recording from the attack had been erased.
Every recording except one.
A hidden hallway camera showed a woman in a nurse uniform entering the room.
When she turned toward the lens, Ethan froze.
It wasn’t a stranger.
May you like
It was Clara Hayes — his father’s former assistant.
The same woman Ethan had been told died in the car crash with his parents.
