CHAPTER 4 – THE WOMAN WHO ROSE FROM THE DEAD

Ethan found Clara at dawn in an abandoned church outside the city.

She was older now, with silver hair and tired eyes, but the fear in her face was unmistakable.

“I didn’t try to kill him,” she whispered. “I saved him.”

Then she revealed the truth Richard had buried for three decades.

Ethan’s mother had survived the crash too.

But Richard had taken her.

Locked her away under a false medical identity.

Because she was the only person who knew where Michael Carter had hidden the original evidence.

Ethan felt the world tilt.

“My mother is alive?”

Clara nodded, crying.

“And she has been waiting for you.”

Before Ethan could ask where, headlights burst through the church windows.

Black SUVs surrounded the building.

Richard stepped out in a dark coat, smiling like a man who had already won.

“You should have stayed rich, Ethan,” he said. “Rich men live longer when they don’t ask questions.”

Ethan reached into his pocket and pressed play on his phone.

Richard’s confession echoed through a live broadcast watched by millions.

For the first time in thirty years, Richard Carter looked afraid.

But then he smiled again.

Because behind him, two guards dragged out a fragile woman in a hospital gown.

Ethan stopped breathing.

His mother looked straight at him and whispered:

“Run, son… he still has your father.”
