Chapter 5 - THE SIEGE OF VALLE DE BRAVO"They were waiting for us to plug it in!" Valeria cried out. "It was a trap!"

"No," Ignacio said calmly, pulling two high-caliber handguns from a wall safe. "It wasn't a trap by your father. It was a trap built into the firmware by whoever coded the drive for Estela."
He threw a bulletproof vest to Valeria. "Put this on. Now!"
Outside, explosives detonated at the main gate. The ground shook violently. Automatic gunfire erupted across the courtyard as Ignacio’s private security force engaged the incoming raiders.
BOOM!
The glass roof of the atrium shattered into thousands of pieces as heavily armed mercenaries rappelled down from two unmarked black military helicopters hovering above the estate.
"Vargas, wipe the local servers and get to the panic room!" Ignacio shouted, firing through the doorway and dropping two mercenaries who tried to breach the control room.
Ignacio grabbed Valeria’s hand, pulling her through the dark, smoke-filled corridors of the mansion. The sound of shouting, gunfire, and shattering glass reverberated off the walls.
As they rounded a corner toward the underground escape tunnel, a figure stepped out from the shadows, blocking their path.
It was a tall man wearing a tailor-made suit under a tactical vest. On his right hand sat a heavy gold ring featuring the eight-pointed serpent star.
Valeria gasped, backing up. "Victor..."
Ignacio locked eyes with the man. Victor Vance—a notorious international arms dealer and the shadow leader of La Hermandad del Silencio. He was also the man Ignacio had been hunting for twelve agonizing years.
"Ignacio Alcázar," Victor said with a smooth, mocking grin. "I must admit, I’m impressed. You built a billion-dollar empire just to track me down. But you’re still that helpless little boy who let his sister bleed out in a ditch."
Ignacio’s eyes went dead. "I'm going to rip your heart out with my bare hands."
Victor chuckled, raising a pistol silencer directly at Ignacio’s head. "You won't get the chance. Give me the drive, and I’ll make sure the girl dies quickly."
Suddenly, Valeria did something unthinkable.
Instead of hiding behind Ignacio, she charged forward, throwing her weight directly into a heavy glass display case beside Victor. The heavy glass smashed over Victor’s arm, knocking his gun off target just as he pulled the trigger!
