Chapter 8 - THE TRAP IS SPRUNGAn hour later, at the luxurious Grand Imperial Hotel in downtown Mexico City, Estela Cruz stood in a private VIP suite overlooking the city lights.

She was sipping champagne, dressed in an expensive black evening gown, wearing the silver serpent pendant around her neck. Beside her stood Governor Roberto Morales, adjusting his tuxedo.

"The media is eating up the story," Morales smiled, taking a sip of wine. "Ignacio Alcázar is officially branded a rogue billionaire and a terrorist. The federal police have orders to shoot him on sight. By tomorrow morning, his company will be seized by the state, and Valeria will be back in your hands."

"Make sure she doesn't survive the night when you catch her," Estela said, her eyes flashing with cold cruelty. "She knows too much."

"Don't worry, my dear," Morales smirked. "She’ll vanish just like Ignacio’s little sister did twelve years ago."

Suddenly, the lights in the grand ballroom below—where hundreds of journalists and high-society elites were gathered for a political gala—flickered violently.

Every television screen, phone display, and digital billboard in the city went black.

"What's happening?" Estela frowned, stepping toward the glass window.

Across the entire country, every screen flashed with a bright red emblem: THE TRUTH.

Instantly, video footage began playing simultaneously on millions of phones, TVs, and news broadcasts across Mexico.

It was high-definition video of Governor Morales discussing price tags for trafficked victims. It was bank records showing Estela Cruz receiving millions of dollars from human trafficking networks. And it was audio recordings of Estela confessing to the murder of Valeria’s father!

Down in the ballroom, screams of outrage erupted as politicians and elites realized they were being exposed live to 120 million citizens!

"SHUT IT DOWN! SHUT IT DOWN NOW!" Governor Morales screamed, slamming his glass onto the table.

BANG!

The heavy wooden doors of the VIP suite were blown off their hinges!

Dust and wood splinters filled the room as Ignacio Alcázar walked through the destruction, dressed in a black tactical suit, an assault rifle slung over his shoulder, and eyes burning with righteous vengeance.

Beside him walked Valeria, holding a video camera that was broadcasting live to forty million people online!
