Chapter 1 - The Silent RetributionThe severed braid lay on the sun-baked concrete like a fallen ribbon. A heavy, suffocating silence hung over the parade ground. Colonel Miller smirked, tossing the heavy shears onto the ground with a metallic clang. He leaned in close, expecting the young woman to burst into tears or fall to her knees begging for mercy.

Instead, Recruit Anna slowly bent down. Without a single twitch of fear in her eyes, she picked up her dark braid. She looked at it, then raised her eyes to meet the Colonel’s triumphant gaze.

Before Colonel Miller could react, Anna reached up to her neck, unbuttoned her recruit collar, and revealed a secondary set of brass insignia hidden underneath: Major General.
The entire company gasped in unison.
"You asked if I thought I was special, Colonel Miller," Anna said, her voice piercing the silence like a steel blade. "I am not special. I am Major General Vance of Internal Affairs. And this recruit uniform was my cover."
Colonel Miller’s face flushed red, then instantly drained of all color. His jaw dropped, his lungs gasping for air as if he had just been struck by lightning.

"This unit has been under active investigation for systematic abuse, corruption, and endangerment of personnel," Anna announced, her voice echoing across the ranks. "Your command is terminated effective immediately."
Before Miller could order his guards to move, the sound of heavy armored transport vehicles roared outside the base gates.
