Chapter 4 - The Midnight AmbushAnna grabbed her sidearm from the desk, racking the slide in one swift motion. "Trent, secure the recruits! Get them into the underground bunkers now!"

"What about you, General?"
"I'm going to Vault 4."
Navigating the pitch-black corridors with trained muscle memory, Anna sprinted toward the weapons vault. The smell of burning wire and copper filled the air. She kicked open the heavy double doors of the vault section, tactical flashlight illuminating the scene.
Three men clad in unmarked black tactical gear were loading black military cases into a transport truck backed into the loading bay. Sitting in the front passenger seat of the truck—freed from his cuffs—was Colonel Miller.
"I told you, General Vance," Miller sneered through the open window, holding a heavy assault rifle. "This base doesn't belong to the government. It belongs to us."
One of the mercenary gunmen fired a burst from his submachine gun. Anna dived behind a reinforced concrete pillar as bullets chipped away the stone, spraying dust everywhere.

"Kill her and torch the building!" Miller roared as the transport vehicle's engine screamed to life.
Anna leaned out from cover, her eyes locked on the moving truck. She fired three precise shots—taking out the rear tires of the escape vehicle. The truck swerved violently, crashing into the steel support beam of the vault loading dock with a deafening metal crunch.
