Chapter 8 - The King’s Mandate

Victor’s face went completely ghost-white. The gun slipped from his trembling, sweaty fingers and clattered loudly onto the polished floor.
Outside the glass showroom, the faint, wailing sound of police sirens cut through the evening air, growing louder and closer by the second. Dozens of red and blue lights reflected off the sleek red Ferrari parked in the center of the floor.
Swat teams smashed through the side entrances, heavy tactical boots thundering against the marble.
"Hands in the air! Don't move!" officers shouted, weapons drawn.
Victor collapsed to his knees, staring blankly at the floor as federal agents tackled him and slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists. Bellini was seized right next to him, weeping uncontrollably as he was dragged away in disgrace.
Leo stood tall amidst the chaos, taking a deep breath of clean air. He dropped the heavy wrench onto the floor with a loud clang.
An hour later, as the police vehicles cleared away and the media vans flooded the street, Leo stood alone in the center of the quiet showroom.
The front doors swung open. A young, nervous technician in a clean gray uniform stepped inside, holding a clipboard. He looked at Leo—dirty, soot-stained, but standing like a giant among the hypercars.
"M-Mr. Vance?" the young technician asked hesitantly. "The board of directors just held an emergency vote over video call. They have stripped Victor of all assets and named you Chairman and CEO of the entire enterprise, effective immediately."
Leo didn't look at the clipboard. He slowly walked over to the crimson Ferrari, placing a warm hand on its sleek carbon-fiber roof. He looked at his own dirty reflection in the polished red paint.
"Tell the board I don't want the CEO office," Leo said softly.
The young technician blinked, confused. "Sir? You own the company now. What do you want?"
Leo smiled, opened the door of the multi-million-dollar hypercar, sat down in the leather driver's seat, and fired up the thunderous V12 engine, letting its roar fill the quiet night.

"Tell them," Leo called out over the screaming engine, "the Chairman will be working from the garage."
