Chapter 7 - The MasterstrokeVictoria Vance narrowed her eyes, sneering at the woman she had long dismissed as a domestic employee. "And who is this? The new maid brought to serve coffee during our corporate execution?"

Evelyn didn't flinch. She walked straight past the trembling CFO, bypassed the hostile lawyer, and placed the thick dossier squarely on the center of the mahogany table, right in front of Grant.
"Senior House Manager," Evelyn corrected smoothly, her gaze locking onto Victoria’s startled face. "And also the primary trustee of the Calloway Family Legacy Fund, established by Grant’s late mother thirty years ago."
Grant looked up, surprise flickering across his features. "Evelyn... what is this?"
"Vanessa’s equity stake wasn't hers to give away," Evelyn explained, opening the leather dossier to a yellowed, legally binding document signed by Arthur Calloway before his passing. "When Vanessa and you signed the prenuptial agreement three months ago, paragraph 14 clause B explicitly stated that any pre-marital corporate shares held by either party could not be transferred to third-party entities without unanimous family board approval—an approval vested entirely in the legacy trustee."
Evelyn turned a page, revealing a stamped signature. "I signed that pre-nup as a witness. And yesterday, acting as the sole surviving trustee of the legacy fund, I officially exercised the clause invalidating Vanessa’s holdings due to criminal malfeasance and attempted murder against a Calloway stakeholder."
Victoria’s confident smile vanished instantly. She snatched the document from the table, her eyes scanning the legal jargon. "This... this is an obscure generational loophole! It won't hold up in federal court!"
"Try it," Evelyn replied coldly, leaning forward with the quiet confidence of a woman who had mastered every single detail of Grant’s empire better than anyone alive. "Every single asset Vanessa acquired was funded through loans collateralized against Calloway property. If Vanguard touches those shares, they inherit federal wire fraud liabilities. We’ve already filed the injunction with the SEC."
Marcus Vance let out a breath he had been holding for five minutes, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips. "By God... checkmate."
Victoria slammed the dossier down on the table, her face flushing crimson with humiliation and rage. "This isn't over, Calloway! You haven't seen the last of us!"
She turned on her heel and stormed out of the boardroom, her expensive heels clicking a frantic retreat.
The room erupted into quiet murmurs of awe from the executive staff.
Grant sat in his leather chair, staring at Evelyn. The fierce, unyielding CEO looked completely mesmerized. Slowly, he stood up, walking around the table until he stood right in front of her.
"When were you going to tell me about this?" he asked, a mixture of disbelief and profound admiration in his voice.

"You were busy worrying about tile deliveries and hostile takeovers," Evelyn replied, a subtle, teasing smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Someone had to balance the ledger."
Grant reached out, gently cupping her face with his hand, his thumb brushing against her cheekbone. "You didn't just save my company, Evelyn. You saved my soul."
