Chapter 14 - The Vault in Zurich

The notebook contained account numbers, wire transaction dates, and safety deposit codes spread across three continents. But what made my blood run cold was a handwritten page dated six years ago—one month before my father died in a sudden, unexplained single-car crash.

The entry was in Richard Sterling's handwriting: Vance refused the merger again. Proceed with Option B. Ensure the brake lines are inspected after the collision.

My hands began to shake violently. For six years, I believed my father’s death was a tragic accident. I believed his heart had failed while driving down the mountain pass.

It was murder.

Richard Sterling didn't just groom Grant to marry me for money. He murdered my father, cleared the path for Grant to court a grieving, vulnerable heiress, and spent seven years trying to drain my inheritance while slowly trying to drive me insane.

I squeezed my eyes shut, taking a deep, long breath until the wave of unbearable grief turned into a sharp, icy rage.

"Option B," I whispered to myself.

I looked down at the silver key Richard had sent me in the black envelope. The key wasn't a threat—it was a key to a private vault in Chicago containing my father's stolen original research documents.

Richard thought I would be terrified. He thought I would run to Chicago to negotiate for my children's trust.

He had no idea I was coming to burn his entire world to the ground.
