CHAPTER 7 – The Woman Who Walked Into the Funeral Alive

Victor Salazar's arrest dominated every news channel for weeks.
Reporters camped outside Duarte Manor.
Financial analysts called it the biggest corporate conspiracy in the city's history.
But inside the mansion, none of that mattered.
For the first time in years, Daniela slept through the night.
Martina laughed without looking over her shoulder.
And Emiliano finally ate dinner with his daughters instead of answering business calls.
He thought the nightmare was over.
He was wrong.
Three weeks later, Rosa was organizing old family photographs in the library when a small package arrived with no return address.
Inside was an old silver locket.
Her hands began to shake.
She recognized it instantly.
It had belonged to Isabella...
Emiliano's late wife.
Tucked beneath it was a handwritten note.
"She never died the way you were told."
Rosa's face turned white.
At that exact moment, Emiliano walked into the room.
"What happened?"
Without speaking, Rosa handed him the note.
He read it once.
Then again.
His breathing became uneven.
"Impossible..."
The official report had said Isabella died in a car accident five years earlier.
The investigation had been closed within days.
But another envelope lay beneath the first.
Inside were photographs.
The first showed Isabella climbing into her car.
The second showed a black SUV following her.
The third...
Showed Victor Salazar standing beside the SUV only minutes before the crash.
Emiliano's knees nearly gave way.
Before he could speak, his phone rang.
The call came from the prison.
Victor wanted to see him.
"He says," the prison officer explained quietly, "that if you don't come today..."
"...you'll never learn who actually ordered your wife's death."
For the second time in his life...
May you like
Emiliano drove toward the truth he feared most.
And this truth would destroy far more than his company.
