CHAPTER 6 — The Last Name on the List

Police surrounded the church.
Helicopters circled overhead.
News helicopters streamed everything live to millions of viewers.
Victor Kane tried to escape through a hidden tunnel beneath the church.
He almost made it.
Until someone blocked the exit.
Michael Harrington.
Still wearing a hospital wristband.
His face was pale.
His shirt stained with fresh blood.
But his eyes never left Victor.
Victor laughed bitterly.
"You should be thanking me."
"If I hadn't erased your father..."
"...you never would've inherited billions."
Michael's fists clenched.
"My father didn't build this company to create monsters."
Victor smiled.
"You still don't understand."
"There was never just one traitor."
Daniel arrived behind Michael.
He froze.
Victor wasn't afraid anymore.
He was smiling.
Because he knew something they didn't.
Victor slowly reached into his pocket.
Not for a weapon...
For a folded photograph.
He tossed it onto the ground.
Daniel picked it up.
His heartbeat stopped.
The picture showed twelve soldiers from his old unit.
Every one of them had been declared dead.
But on the back was a message written in fresh black ink:
"Only eleven died."
Daniel looked up.
Victor whispered with a grin,
"One of your brothers survived."
"He wasn't murdered."
"He betrayed you."
Before anyone could react—
A single sniper shot echoed across the city.
Victor Kane collapsed instantly.
Dead before he hit the ground.
The crowd gasped.
The sniper was gone.
No fingerprints.
No weapon.
No witnesses.
Daniel stared at Victor's lifeless body.
The only man who knew the traitor's identity...
Had just been silenced forever.
And somewhere, watching the live broadcast from an unknown location, a shadowy figure slowly lowered a sniper rifle.
Then smiled.

"Welcome back, Captain."
"Now the real game begins..."
