The sun shone brightly over the Jalisco State Civil Courthouse.
A crowd of reporters gathered near the steps as the final verdicts for the Salgado-Ruiz Extortion Trial were announced to the public.
Inside the courtroom, the judge slammed his gavel down with a loud BANG!
"In the matter of the State v. Ofelia Salgado, Mauricio Salgado, Héctor Prado, and Gabriel Ruiz..."
The verdicts were brutal and absolute:
Gabriel Ruiz: 18 years in maximum-security federal prison for masterminding an organized extortion ring, parole violation, and attempted murder.
Héctor Prado: 12 years for extortion, illegal money lending, and assault.
Ofelia Salgado: 8 years in state prison for grand fraud, criminal conspiracy, and identity theft. Her Providencia property was officially seized by the court and auctioned off.
Mauricio Salgado: 3 years of mandatory community service, full civil restitution payments, and a permanent criminal record for conspiracy to commit fraud and domestic intimidation.
Renata sat in the front row, wearing a tailored white suit. She looked stunning, powerful, and utterly unfazed.
Behind the defense table, Mauricio stood in his orange jumpsuit, weeping uncontrollably as the bailiffs clicked handcuffs onto his wrists. He turned his head desperately toward Renata.

Mauricio fell to his knees, sobbing into his hands as the guards pulled him away through the side door.
Renata walked out of the courtroom doors into the warm morning sunshine.
Waiting for her at the bottom of the steps was a sleek black sports car with a brand-new logo painted on the driver's side door: VALKYRIE FINANCIAL SECURITY & PROTECTION.
Her attorney, Sofia Morales, walked up beside her, handing her a glass of cold champagne.
"Congratulations, Director," Sofia smiled, clinking her glass against Renata’s. "The court auction for Ofelia’s Providencia property concluded this morning."
"And who bought it?" Renata asked, raising an eyebrow.
Sofia grinned broadly. "You did. At a 60% discount using the court damage settlement. Your new company headquarters will officially open in Ofelia’s former living room next month."
Renata took a sip of champagne, looking up at the clear blue sky.
Three months ago, a coward had kicked her dining table, spilt her pozole, and demanded her paycheck.
Today, she owned his mother’s home, ran her own elite security firm, and stood as a warning to anyone who ever dared to underestimate a strong woman.
