Chapter 9 - The Final ShowdownGabriel’s face went completely red with rage. "You bitch!" he roared, pulling a compact 9mm pistol from his jacket coat. "I'll kill you before I go back to prison!"

He raised the gun—
CRACK!
Renata exploded forward before Gabriel’s finger could squeeze the trigger. Her hand slammed into his wrist, forcing the barrel toward the ceiling as a gunshot shattered a high light fixture above them!
Glass rained down around them.
Renata didn't hesitate. She twisted Gabriel’s gun wrist violently outward, executing a joint lock that snapped his grip on the weapon. The pistol clattered onto the polished wood floor.
Gabriel screamed in pain, but out of sheer desperation, he swung his left hook toward her face.
Renata slipped underneath the punch, drove her elbow straight into Gabriel’s ribs, and followed up with a devastating knee strike to his sternum. Gabriel doubled over, gasping for air.
Renata grabbed him by the collar of his expensive suit, spun him around, and slammed him face-first onto the hard wooden gym floor, pinning his arm tightly behind his back.
"Arghhh! Stop! My shoulder!" Gabriel shrieked, squirming helplessly.
The double doors of the sports center swung open with a bang.
Captain Vargas and six federal agents burst onto the gym floor, tactical lights cutting through the dim room.
"Federal agents! Don't move!" Vargas shouted, sweeping his rifle across the room before spotting Renata holding Gabriel down effortlessly.
Vargas lowered his weapon and let out a long breath, a amused smirk appearing on his face. "Renata, I swear... you never leave any work for my officers."
"He's all yours, Captain," Renata said calmly, standing up and dusting off her hands.
Two federal agents rushed forward, pulling Gabriel to his feet and snapping heavy steel cuffs onto his wrists.
Gabriel, his face bruised and covered in sweat, glared at Renata with pure venom as he was dragged away. "You won't get away with this! I'll be out! I have lawyers!"
"You're going back to federal prison for fifteen years, Gabriel," Captain Vargas informed him coldly. "Parole violation, felony extortion, illegal firearm possession, and attempted murder. Enjoy your stay."
As Gabriel was hauled out of the building, Vargas turned to Renata.
"We seized Prado's offshore accounts an hour ago," Vargas told her. "Every single contract, forgery, and loan shark agreement tied to Ofelia, Mauricio, and Gabriel has been legally voided by a federal judge. You're completely cleared of all liabilities."
Renata took a deep, refreshing breath. "Thank you, Vargas."
"So... what are you going to do now?" Vargas asked with a warm smile. "Back to simple gym instruction?"

Renata looked at her reflection in the mirror—strong, unbothered, completely in control of her own destiny.
"No," Renata smiled. "I think it's time I open my own security agency right here in Guadalajara."
