Chapter 4 - The Traitor WithinThe phone call hit the room like a thunderbolt.

Ofelia stumbled backward, grabbing onto the back of the sofa for support. "No... no, this can't be happening! Mauricio, do something!"
Mauricio looked like he was about to faint. "Me?! Mom, you dragged me into this! You told me she was just a weak girl from the gym! You told me to slap her!"
"You cowardly idiot!" Ofelia screamed, turning on her own son with toxic fury. "I did this for our family! If I go down, you go down too! Who do you think signed the loan paperwork as a co-guarantor?!"
Mauricio’s eyes bulged in absolute terror. "What?! I never signed anything!"
"I signed your name!" Ofelia yelled, completely unhinged now, exposing every detail of her corruption. "I used your ID! You're tied to this debt just as much as I am!"
Renata watched the two hyenas turn on each other with cold detachment. "A mother of the year," Renata remarked quietly.
Prado, realizing that the entire operation had crashed and burned, didn't waste time arguing. He slowly backed toward the front entrance, eyeing the door lock.
"I'm leaving," Prado muttered, reaching for the door handle. "This family is insane."
"You're not going anywhere, Prado," Renata said.
Prado whirled around, his eyes wild. He pulled a heavy steel tactical flashlight from his coat pocket and swung it wildly at Renata’s head!
The attack was fast, but to Renata, it was like moving through water.
She ducked underneath the swinging arc, stepping deep into Prado’s center of gravity. Her hands shot out—one gripping his wrist, the other driving hard into his elbow joint. With a lightning-fast sambo hip throw (O-Goshi), she sent Prado’s 200-pound frame flying over her shoulder.
CRASH!
Prado hit the tiled floor with deafening force, knocking the wind completely out of his lungs. Before he could recover, Renata drove her knee into his shoulder blade, twisted his wrist behind his back, and applied a brutal wrist-lock.
The heavy flashlight rolled harmlessly across the floor. Prado let out a strangled scream of pain. "Aghhh! Stop! My arm!"
"Stay down," Renata commanded, her voice terrifyingly steady.
Ofelia let out a horrified screech and bolted toward the open door, trying to run down the hallway.
"Mauricio, catch her!" Renata ordered.
Mauricio, terrified of Renata and desperately trying to save himself from criminal charges, jumped forward and grabbed his mother by the arms.
"Let go of me, you foolish boy!" Ofelia shrieked, clawing at Mauricio’s face. "Let me go!"
"No, Mom! You ruined my life!" Mauricio sobbed, holding her back with all his strength.
Outside in the hallway, heavy footsteps suddenly thundered up the stairwell.
"State Police! Clear the doorway!"
Four armed officers in tactical gear burst through the apartment entrance, weapons drawn, led by Captain Vargas—a stern, broad-shouldered man in a tactical vest.
"Clear! Secure the room!" Vargas ordered.
Within seconds, officers shoved Prado to the floor, snapping steel handcuffs onto his wrists. Another officer pulled Ofelia away from Mauricio, pinning her hands behind her back despite her hysterical screaming.
"Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?!" Ofelia shrieked, kicking wildly. "Renata attacked us! She's a psychopath!"
Captain Vargas walked up to Renata, who calmly stepped back and adjusted her sweater.
"Are you hurt, Renata?" Vargas asked softly.
"I'm fine, Captain," Renata replied smoothly. "The primary evidence is on the server, but you have full confession audio from both Ofelia Salgado and Héctor Prado right here."
Vargas looked down at Prado, who was groaning on the floor, then at Ofelia, who was sobbing in fury. He turned to Mauricio, who was kneeling on the floor with his hands over his head, weeping uncontrollably.
"Take them all into custody," Vargas commanded his men.
"Wait! Not me!" Mauricio cried out, looking at Renata with pleading eyes. "Renata! Please! Tell them I didn't know! I love you! I was just doing what my mother told me!"
Renata walked over to Mauricio, looking down at him with pure, icy disdain.
"You didn't love me, Mauricio," she said softly, her words cutting deeper than any blade. "You wanted a servant. You wanted my money. And last night, you kicked my table, shattered my dishes, and threatened to strike me."

She leaned down, her voice a dangerous whisper.
"And you made one fatal mistake: You forgot to check who I really was."
