Chapter 19 - THE FINAL PURGE

Before Luca could respond, the emergency communications rig in his pocket chimed rapidly—a distress ping from Arthur.

"Boss! We've got an airborne automated drone pinging the estate's coordinates!" Arthur shouted over the speaker. "It’s a scorched-earth satellite strike vector! The remnants of the Iron Syndicate's shadow board just triggered an automated liquidation protocol from an offshore rig in the Atlantic! They're wiping the whole square mile!"

Luca grabbed his weapon from the desk. The personal drama was instantly shelved; the survival of his family was paramount.

"How long until impact?" Luca demanded, sprinting out into the hallway with Elena right behind him.

"Four minutes!" Arthur reported. "The guidance signal is locked onto the central server array in our sub-basement!"

"Tommy! Maya!" Luca roared, taking the stairs three at a time.

He burst into the living quarters, grabbing Maya and Tommy, shoving them toward the reinforced underground bunker beneath the garage. "Arthur, load them into the vault! Elena, get inside now!"

"What about you?" Elena yelled over the rising whine of the approaching missile guidance system outside.

"I'm overriding the signal target," Luca said, his eyes blazing with ferocious determination.

Luca sprinted into the sub-basement server room, pulled up the master control terminal, and jammed his encrypted phone directly into the mainframe uplink. Leveraging the access codes he had taken from Nikolai’s tablet, he re-routed the guidance signal's GPS coordinates, locking the missile's target onto the exact satellite relay frequency emitting from the cartel’s offshore command platform in the Atlantic Ocean.
