Chapter 15 - THE UNEXPECTED MASTERSTROKE

Nikolai laughed coldly. "You are vastly outnumbered, Costello. My men control your entire perimeter."

"Check your comms, Nikolai," Luca replied calmly.

Suddenly, the rotor sounds above changed pitch. Three heavy combat transport choppers bearing Federal and International Law Enforcement insignias broke through the cloud cover, spotlights blinding Nikolai's ground team.

From the tree line surrounding the estate, armored tactical vehicles breached the outer fencing.

For the past two years, Luca hadn't just been playing dad—he had secretly leveraged his syndicate intelligence to build an impenetrable global immunity network for his family. The silver key inside the wooden box was the final physical piece of evidence Luca needed to trigger a coordinated international red-notice strike team against the Iron Syndicate.

Nikolai’s jaw dropped as his radio filled with panicked chatter from his men being neutralized across the perimeter.

"You thought Vance was the only one playing chess?" Luca said, stepping forward. "I leaked the fake intel that drew you out of Europe. I wanted you on my field."

Nikolai reached for his sidearm, but Luca fired first, disabling Nikolai's shoulder and sending him crashing into the wet dirt at home plate.

Federal agents swarmed the field within moments, securing the syndicate operators and placing Nikolai in heavy restraints.

The storm passed, leaving behind a crisp, quiet dawn over the estate.

Maya and Tommy emerged from the sub-basement as the sun broke through the clouds. Maya ran across the field and threw her arms around Luca’s waist.

Luca held his daughter tight, looking across the lawn at Elena, who stood with tears of relief on her face. The ghosts of the past were finally laid to rest, the secrets burnt to ash.
