CHAPTER 5 — Emma’s Lunchbox Became Evidence

The next morning, Richard arrived at Harrison Tower for the first time in ten years.
Hundreds of employees filled the lobby.
Some cried.
Some lowered their heads in shame.
Others whispered his name like a ghost had walked back from the dead.
Victoria stood near the elevator with security beside her.
"This building belongs to me," she said coldly.
Richard looked at her.
"No, Victoria."
"It belongs to every honest person you stepped on to steal it."
She laughed.
"You have no proof."
Then Richard slowly lifted Emma's small yellow lunchbox.
Everyone froze.
Inside was not food.
Inside were documents.
Bank transfers.
Forged signatures.
Medical reports.
Photos.
And one old recording device.
Richard explained that during his years on the street, he had not been helpless.
He had watched.
Listened.
Collected names.
He knew which doctor had lied.
Which judge had been bribed.
Which board members had accepted money.
He had hidden copies everywhere, waiting for one final reason to come back.
And Emma had become that reason.
Victoria's smile disappeared.
"You planned this?"
Richard shook his head.
"No."
"I survived this."
Then the lawyer played the recording.
Victoria's own voice filled the lobby.
"As long as my father is declared incompetent, everything is mine."
Gasps erupted.
One board member tried to leave.
Police blocked the exit.
Victoria stepped backward, shaking her head.
"No... that's edited. That's fake."
Richard walked closer.
His eyes were filled with pain, not anger.
"I would have forgiven the money."
"I would have forgiven the company."
"But you tried to destroy a child because she gave an old man half a sandwich."
Victoria's mask finally cracked.
She screamed at him in front of everyone.
"You chose strangers over your own daughter!"
Richard answered softly.
"No."
"You chose greed over your own father."
