When the old man was wheeled into the courtroom beside Sarah, an eerie silence fell over the room.

Judge Eleanor Hayes looked over the case file.

Victor's jaw dropped.
Emily nearly fainted.

"Children's hospitals."
"Scholarship funds."
"Veterans."
"Wildlife conservation."
"He deliberately lived like an ordinary pensioner."
The judge looked toward the old man.
"Is this true?"
He nodded quietly.
"I wanted my children to love me..."
"Not my money."
Sarah couldn't hold back her tears.
Victor stared at his father in complete disbelief.
"You were a billionaire?"
The old man answered softly,
"No."
"I was your father."
"And somehow..."
"That wasn't enough."
Not a single person in the courtroom remained dry-eyed.
