CHAPTER 7 — “The Truth No One Expected”

The room fell into complete silence.
Richard sat motionless, staring at the grainy footage that had haunted his nightmares for three decades.
Finally, he whispered,
"I deserve prison."
Police officers stepped forward.
Before they could place him under arrest...
Thomas raised his hand.
"Wait."
Everyone turned toward him.
Richard looked up in confusion.
"You... still want to hear me?"
Thomas nodded once.
"For thirty years, I wanted revenge."
He looked at the burn scars covering his arms.
"I dreamed of this moment every single night."
Richard lowered his head.
"I know."
"But today..." Thomas continued, "...I realized something."
"If I spend the rest of my life hating you..."
"...then you steal another thirty years from me."
The room was stunned.
Even the officers stopped moving.
Richard's voice cracked.
"I don't deserve your forgiveness."
Thomas answered quietly,
"No."
"You don't."
"But forgiveness isn't for you."
"It's for me."
Tears rolled down Richard's face.
For the first time in decades...
The billionaire cried like the frightened young man he once was.
Then Thomas reached into the wooden chest one last time.
Hidden beneath the old papers...
He found a faded leather notebook.
His father's handwriting covered the first page.
"To whichever son chooses love over wealth..."
Thomas slowly opened it.
Inside was something no one expected.
Not another invention.
Not money.
Not stock certificates.
It was the original ownership transfer.
Signed by their father...
Years after the company had become successful.
Everyone leaned closer.
The final paragraph read:
"The son who confesses the truth willingly shall inherit everything.
The son who hides behind lies shall inherit nothing."
Richard's heart nearly stopped.
He had confessed...
Only minutes earlier.
Had his father somehow predicted this day?
May you like
Or...
Was there one more secret still waiting to be uncovered?
