Chapter 4 - THE BREACH"What are you doing?" Julian's voice suddenly lost its smug edge, replaced by a jittery, nervous edge. "Stop messing with the panel! You'll fry the system!"

"That's the idea," I muttered.

I grabbed the thick positive and negative copper lines with my bare hands, wrapping them around the structural steel frame of the vault door just as I jammed a rusted iron pipe into the pneumatic release valve.

BOOM.

A blinding flash of white-hot light illuminated the room as a massive electrical surge bypassed the digital locks. The titanium bolts welded themselves shut for a fraction of a second before the entire secondary power grid blew out with a deafening screech of tortured metal.

The hydraulic pressure failed. The steel door groaned, shifted, and slowly swung open, billowing thick black smoke into the hallway.

I didn't wait. I stepped out of the smoke, my eyes locked on the security camera at the end of the hall. I stared straight into the lens, lifted my hand, and drew a single finger across my throat.

Miles away in his executive suite, Julian threw his remote across the room in blind panic.

"Find him!" he screamed at his armed guards over the master comms. "Shoot on sight! I want the General dead before he reaches the lobby!"
