Chapter 8 - THE ULTIMATE STANDOFFI stopped twenty paces away, keeping my rifle leveled squarely at the center of his chest.

"Let the boy go, Julian," I said, my voice cutting through the hum of the machinery like a razor blade. "You've lost. The federal marshals are already tracking your offshore bank accounts. Your empire is gone."

"I don't care about the money!" Julian shrieked, tears of rage springing to his eyes as he clutched the baby tighter, lifting the infant dangerously close to the edge of the concrete pier overlooking the churning ocean. "I built this syndicate from the dirt! And if I go down, I'm taking your entire bloodline with me!"

"You think you're holding all the cards?" I asked softly, a grim smile touching the corner of my mouth.

I reached into my jacket and pulled out Julian’s encrypted laptop, slamming it down onto a nearby steel table. With a single keystroke, the main warehouse monitors flashed to life, displaying a live feed of the international tribunal database.

"While you were busy monologuing," I said calmly, "I transferred every single cent of your black-market capital to Interpol, and broadcasted your entire criminal network's ledger to every major news outlet in the world. Your associates are already being arrested as we speak."

Julian's eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated horror. He glanced down at his encrypted phone. It was buzzing incessantly with red alert notifications.

"No... no, that's impossible!" he roared.
