Chapter 4 - The Tables TurnThe sound of the gavel felt like a gunshot in the dead silence of the courtroom.

Julián stood frozen, his mouth opening and closing like a fish pulled out of water. His multi-million-dollar empire, his mansion in Las Lomas, his luxury cars, his offshore accounts, his corporate prestige—everything he had used to crush, humiliate, and control Elisa for a decade—was gone in a single afternoon.
And not only was it gone...
It now belonged to her.
"Bailiff," Judge Robles ordered calmly, pointing directly at Julián. "Take Mr. Varela into custody. Given the federal tax evasion charges, the documentation of domestic terrorism, and the pending obstruction of justice charges brought forward by Inspector Garza, he is denied bail pending trial."
Two federal marshals stepped forward instantly. They didn't hesitate. Heavy steel handcuffs clicked loudly as they grabbed Julián by both arms, yanking him backward away from the table.
"Wait! No! You can't do this!" Julián screamed, thrashing wildly as the marshals dragged him toward the side exit. He looked back desperately, his eyes wide with absolute terror. "Nora! Help me! Call my lawyers! Do something!"
Nora Alcázar shrank back into her chair, pulling her designer handbag against her chest like a shield. She didn't look at him. She didn't say a single word. The moment the money and power vanished, her loyalty vanished right along with it.
As Julián was hauled past the defense table, he caught sight of Elisa.
She hadn't moved an inch. She was quietly packing her legal notepad and pen back into her leather briefcase, her expression entirely serene.
Julián stopped struggling for a split second, his face twisted in a mask of pure, unadulterated hatred.
"You think you've won?" Julián spat, spittle flying from his lips as the marshals dragged him toward the heavy wooden doors. "You're nothing without me! You're a broken, scarred little coward! You'll never survive a day running that company on your own! You'll come crawling back!"
Elisa didn't flinch. She didn't look away.
She slowly raised her head, locked her eyes onto his, and offered a soft, pitying smile.
"Julián," she said, her voice clear, calm, and carrying across the entire courtroom. "I built the foundation while you were still learning how to sign your own name. The only thing you ever owned... was my patience. And today, that lease has expired."
The heavy oak doors slammed shut behind him, cutting off his frantic screaming.
The courtroom let out a collective, audible exhale.
Reporters scrambled toward the aisles, their phones buzzing with breaking news alerts as headlines flashed across newsrooms throughout Mexico City: TECH BILLIONAIRE JULIÁN VARELA ARRESTED IN DRAMATIC DIVORCE HEARING; ASSETS FROZEN.
Marcos Leal closed his briefcase and turned to Elisa with a warm, respectful smile.
"Well, Elisa," Marcos said softly. "The first battle is won. But your former executive board is still sitting in the glass tower on Reforma Avenue, and they have no idea what’s about to hit them."

Elisa stood up, smoothing out the front of her simple gray coat.
"Let's go pay them a visit," she said quietly. "It's time to clean house."
