Chapter 6 - The Cleansing FirePanic erupted across the boardroom.

Two of the junior vice presidents stood up, stammering and protesting furiously.
"You can't just fire us!" one of them shouted, pointing an accusing finger at Elisa. "We have multi-year employment contracts with guaranteed severance packages! We'll sue you into oblivion! You'll destroy this company within twenty-four hours without our management experience!"
Elisa didn't blink. She didn't raise her voice. She simply looked at Inspector Garza with a subtle nod.
Inspector Garza pulled a second folder from her briefcase—one stamped with federal criminal investigation markers.
"You're welcome to sue," Inspector Garza said smoothly, stepping into the path of the protesting executives. "Or, you can take your personal belongings from your desks right now, walk out the front doors quietly, and pray the federal prosecutor doesn't decide to include your names in the upcoming indictment for corporate racketeering and hush-money laundering."
The two vice presidents stopped dead in their tracks. They looked at the criminal markers on the folder, then at Inspector Garza’s armed marshals standing by the elevators, and swallowed hard. Without another word, they turned around and rushed out of the boardroom, desperate to escape before the net tightened around them.
Ricardo Montalvo remained standing by the head of the table, his face pale, sweat beading on his forehead. He looked at Elisa—the woman he had mocked, ignored, and dismissed as a harmless shadow for ten years.
"Elisa..." Ricardo stammered, his voice dropping to a pathetic, pleading whisper. "Please... I have a family. I have children in private school. I was just following Julián’s orders! He threatened to ruin anyone who didn't fall in line! You know how ruthless he is—"
Elisa walked slowly toward him, stopping just inches away. She looked down at the man who had once laughed out loud when Julián publicly humiliated her at a corporate charity gala three years ago.
"When Julián locked me in our home office for three days without food or water after I questioned his accounting books," Elisa said softly, her voice barely above a whisper, "you were the one who signed off on the false expense reports that covered up the missing R&D funds."
Ricardo’s breath caught in his throat. He opened his mouth, but no words came out.
"You didn't just follow orders, Ricardo," Elisa said, her eyes flashing with a fierce, burning intelligence. "You profited from my destruction. And now, your employment is terminated. Get out of my building."
With slumped shoulders and a broken spirit, Ricardo turned around and walked out of the boardroom, joining the steady stream of disgraced executives being escorted down to the lobby by federal marshals.
Within twenty minutes, the top-floor executive suite was completely empty of corruption.
Only Elisa, Marcos Leal, and Inspector Garza remained.
Marcos walked over to the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, looking out over the glittering skyline of Mexico City as the afternoon sun began to set, casting a warm golden glow across the horizon.
"Well," Marcos smiled, turning to Elisa. "The house is clean. But tomorrow morning, the global press is going to demand a statement. Wall Street is watching. Competitors are circling like sharks, waiting to see if Varela Medical Technologies will collapse without Julián at the helm."
Elisa walked up to the glass window beside him, looking out at the city where she had spent a decade hiding in the shadows.
"They won't have to wait long," Elisa said quietly. "Tomorrow morning, we announce the global rebrand. We drop the name Varela. We return to our true roots."
Inspector Garza raised an eyebrow, curious. "And what name will you be operating under?"
Elisa turned around, a calm, powerful smile touching the corners of her lips.
"Alcázar Biomedical," she said firmly, reclaiming her maiden name—the name of her family, her heritage, and her true identity. "And our first order of business will be releasing the next-generation surgical laser technology—completely free of patent restrictions for public trauma hospitals across Latin America."

Marcos stared at her in astonishment, then threw his head back and laughed—a genuine, booming laugh of pure triumph.
"Now that," Marcos said, "is how you take back an empire."
