CHAPTER 1 — The Father They Thought Was Gone Forever

Alexander had built his reputation on remaining calm.

For thirty years, judges, CEOs, politicians, and billionaires had watched him negotiate impossible situations without ever raising his voice.

But the second he pulled the blanket away from Sofia's shoulders, that reputation died.

Purple fingerprints circled both of her wrists.

Long welts crossed her back.

A broken pearl from her wedding veil was still tangled in her blood-soaked hair.

He reached toward her trembling hand, then stopped halfway, afraid even touching her would cause more pain.

"I'm sorry," he whispered.

The words barely escaped his lips.

Sofia stared at him through swollen eyes.

"I thought... you stopped loving me."

Alexander lowered his head.

"I never stopped."

Silence filled the apartment.

Elena watched from the kitchen doorway.

For ten years she had hated this man.

Not because he had been cruel.

Because he had disappeared.

Because when the divorce ended, he walked away without explaining why.

Now, looking at him kneeling beside their daughter, she realized something she had never imagined.

He looked just as broken as Sofia.

Alexander carefully helped Sofia drink a little water before standing.

His face had become expressionless.

"Tell me everything."

Every slap.

Every insult.

Every threat.

Every woman in that hotel suite.

Every word Javier spoke outside the locked door.

"...Don't hit her too much in the face..."

Alexander closed his eyes.

When Sofia finished, the apartment became completely silent.

Then he asked one question.

"Did anyone record it?"

Sofia blinked.

"I... I don't know."

Alexander nodded once.

"Good."

Elena frowned.

"Good?"

He looked at her.

"If they were arrogant enough to torture her together, someone wanted a souvenir."

Neither woman understood what he meant.

Alexander pulled out another phone.

Not his personal phone.

An old black device Elena had never seen before.

He dialed only three numbers.

"They touched my daughter."

A pause.

"Operation Black File begins now."

He hung up.

Nothing more.

No explanation.

Within five minutes, his phone rang six times.

He answered none of them.

Instead, he quietly asked Elena,

"Which hotel?"

She gave him the address.

He nodded once.

"They'll still be celebrating."

His voice was terrifyingly calm.

"They think tonight belongs to them."

He looked at Sofia.

"They're wrong."

At the luxury hotel, the Robles family had ordered champagne.

Carmen laughed loudly.

"I told you she would learn."

One of her friends raised a glass.

"Forty slaps?"

"Thirty-nine," Carmen corrected proudly.

"I lost count after that."

Everyone laughed.

Javier forced a smile.

Only his younger cousin Mateo looked uncomfortable.

"You think maybe we went too far?"

Carmen glared at him.

"In this family, wives obey."

Then every phone at the table vibrated at once.

Lawyers.

Bankers.

Business partners.

News alerts.

Javier opened his screen.

His face instantly turned white.

His firm's website had disappeared.

The company email servers were offline.

Every client meeting scheduled for Monday had been canceled.

"What...?"

His managing partner called.

The moment Javier answered, shouting exploded through the speaker.

"Who did you offend?"

"I don't know!"

"You do now."

The call disconnected.

Another message arrived.

Your partnership has been suspended pending investigation.

Javier stared at the screen.

"What investigation?"

Across the table, Carmen laughed.

"Probably some computer error."

Then the ballroom lights suddenly went dark.

For three long seconds...

No one moved.

When the lights returned...

Alexander Hale was standing inside the entrance.

Alone.

No security.

No bodyguards.

Just a father.

Looking directly at Carmen.

She laughed.

"And who exactly are you?"

Alexander smiled.

It was the coldest smile Elena had ever seen.

"I'm the man whose daughter you touched."

The room became completely silent.

May you like

No one realized yet...

The nightmare had only begun.
