Chapter 8 - THE SUNRISE OF RECKONINGThe morning sun broke over the mountain peaks, casting brilliant golden rays across the surface of the quiet lake outside the lodge.

I stood by the large picture window in the master study, holding a cup of hot coffee in one hand while watching my daughter sleep peacefully in the adjacent nursery monitor.

The secure computer terminal on the massive mahogany desk in front of me was glowing brightly.

Luka stood beside the desk, his fingers moving rapidly across the dual monitors as he prepared the encrypted broadcast stream. Standing behind him, Jax tapped a few final commands onto a ruggedized tablet.

“All secure servers connected,” Jax announced, looking up at Luka. “The SEC, the Department of Justice cybercrime division, and three major investigative news networks are queued into the secure drop link. Once we hit transmit, there’s no calling it back.”

Luka turned his head and looked at me. He didn't speak; he simply offered a silent, reassuring nod, giving me the final choice.

I took a deep breath, stepped forward, and placed my hand over the enter key on the keyboard.

“Let’s end this,” I said clearly.
