Chapter 10 - A NEW DAWNThree weeks later, the autumn leaves had turned vibrant shades of amber and red, blanketing the mountain roads leading up to the Sanctuary lodge.

The federal investigations into Vance Industries had concluded with historic convictions, resulting in the complete dismantling of the corrupt corporate syndicate and the full legal restoration of my father’s intellectual property and estate funds to my name.
Sitting on the wide wooden porch overlooking the tranquil lake, I cradled my daughter—whose legal birth certificate now proudly bore both my family name and a very secure, permanent legal guardianship filing signed by Luka Moretti.
Footsteps echoed softly on the wooden planks behind me.
I didn't need to turn around to know who it was.
Luka walked over, carrying two mugs of coffee, and sat down in the rocking chair beside mine. He looked out over the sparkling water, a quiet, peaceful expression resting on his weathered, tattooed face—a look I had never seen on him the day we met at the hospital.
“How’s the little CEO doing today?” Luka asked softly, nodding toward the baby sleeping soundly against my chest.
“She’s perfect,” I smiled, leaning my head back against the chair. “No doctors rushing in, no corporate spies lurking in hospital hallways, and no cowards running away from responsibility.”
Luka turned his head, his dark eyes meeting mine with a warmth that made my heart skip a beat.
“She’ll never have to worry about a single thing, Chloe,” Luka promised, reaching out to gently brush a strand of hair from my forehead. “Neither of you will. That’s a promise I made a long time ago to your father... and a promise I intend to keep for the rest of my life.”
May you like
I smiled, covering his large, calloused hand with my own.
The man who had signed his name on the birth certificate as 'Father' hadn't just saved us from a monster—he had given us a home, a future, and a love that no corporate empire or broken past could ever destroy.
