Chapter 6 - The Master Strategy and the Ultimate Betrayal

Mariana looked over at Alejandro. Blood trickled down the billionaire’s temple, but his eyes were filled with fierce defiance. "Don't sign it, Mariana!" Alejandro barked. "He’s going to kill us both anyway!"
Ricardo struck Alejandro across the face with the butt of his revolver. "Shut up!"
Mariana stared down at the documents. Her mind, capable of calculating thousands of variables in seconds, began racing at lightspeed. She looked at the signature line. She looked at the security camera in the corner of the room—its red standby light was dark, but she noticed a tiny blue light flickering on the smart-display television on the wall.
The backup power grid on the TV was active. The internal camera was streaming live to the cloud security server!
Mariana looked Ricardo in the eyes, her fear instantly vanishing, replaced by absolute, cold precision.
"You really are stupid, aren't you, Ricardo?" she said softly.
Ricardo blinked, caught off guard. "What did you say to me?!"
"I said you're an idiot," Mariana said clearly. "You came here expecting to force me to sign over my inheritance. But you didn't even read the clause on page 14 of Don Héctor's contract."
Ricardo hesitated, his eyes darting to the papers. "What clause?"
"Don Héctor doesn't plan to give you $10 million, Ricardo," Mariana lied with supreme confidence, drawing on her deep knowledge of corporate law. "Clause 14 states that in the event of my death, all power of attorney transfers exclusively to the primary executor—which is Don Héctor’s off-shore trust. You are listed as an accomplice. The moment I sign this and you pull that trigger, Don Héctor’s men are instructed to eliminate you to erase all evidence."
The mercenaries holding Alejandro exchanged subtle, uneasy glances.
Ricardo’s hand began to shake. "You’re lying! You’re trying to trick me!"
"Am I?" Mariana challenged, leaning forward. "Call Don Héctor right now. Ask him why his legal firm used an offshore holding company registered in Panama under the code name 'Operación Chivo'—which translates to 'Scapegoat.' Who do you think the scapegoat is, Ricardo? The billionaire? Me? Or the disgraced ex-husband desperate for cash?"
Ricardo’s mind spiraled into paranoia. His arrogance had always made him easily manipulated by fear. He pulled out his phone with a trembling hand, dialing Don Héctor.
"Don Héctor!" Ricardo panicked into the phone. "Is page 14 a trap?! Are you setting me up?!"
BOOM!
The heavy balcony glass shattered inward into a million sparkling shards!
A squad of elite Mexican Special Forces soldiers rappelled down from military helicopters hovering right outside the penthouse! Flashbang grenades detonated with blinding light and deafening booms!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
In less than three seconds, the four mercenaries were disarmed and slammed to the ground. Alejandro broke free, threw a brutal right hook that broke Ricardo’s nose, and wrestled the revolver out of his shaking hands.
Mariana stood up slowly, stepping over the broken glass.
Standing behind the Special Forces commander was none other than the Federal Director of Police—holding a tablet showing the live video feed streamed from the smart TV in the penthouse.
"Ricardo Salazar," the Federal Director announced calmly. "You are under arrest for high treason, attempted murder, armed burglary, and cartel collusion. Everything you just said and did was broadcast live to the Federal Attorney General's office."
Ricardo lay on the floor, holding his bleeding nose, sobbing pathetically as the plastic zip-ties were pulled tight around his wrists. He looked up at Mariana in absolute horror.
"How... how did you know about the TV camera?" Ricardo wept.
May you like
Mariana bent down, looking him straight in the eyes.
"I didn't just design my navy-blue dress, Ricardo," she whispered coldly. "I designed the entire smart-security layout for this penthouse yesterday afternoon while you were busy panicking. You always thought I was just a housewife... but you forgot that I built the brain you used to climb the corporate ladder."
