Chapter 6 – The Chairman Nobody Knew

Samuel survived—but barely.

While he underwent emergency surgery, Evelyn returned to Sterling Global before sunrise.

She was no longer looking for answers.

She was looking for traitors.

The emergency board meeting began with forced smiles.

Every director offered sympathy.

Every executive claimed loyalty.

Then Evelyn placed the empty coffin photograph on the conference table.

Silence.

"You all knew."

No one answered.

Victoria finally spoke.

"You've been emotional. You should rest."

Evelyn smiled.

For the first time...

It wasn't a kind smile.

"I agree."

She reached beneath the table and pressed a button on her phone.

The conference room doors opened.

Not with police.

Not with security.

An elderly man in a perfectly tailored navy suit walked in, accompanied by a team of international auditors and federal investigators.

Every board member instantly stood.

Several turned completely white.

Victoria whispered in horror,

"No..."

"It can't be..."

The old gentleman looked directly at Evelyn and bowed.

"Miss Carter."

"As instructed twenty years ago by your father..."

"I've protected his voting shares until the rightful heir was ready."

He placed a sealed leather portfolio on the table.

Inside were the original stock certificates.

Richard Carter had secretly remained the majority shareholder all along.

Which meant Evelyn wasn't just the CEO.

She legally controlled 81% of Sterling Global.

The directors realized they had spent decades manipulating someone who had always possessed the power to destroy them.

Then the elderly chairman revealed one final bombshell.

"There's one more thing."

He slid a confidential intelligence report toward Evelyn.

"It appears your father did not die three months ago."

The room fell into stunned silence.

The chairman looked her straight in the eyes.

May you like

"We have credible evidence..."

"...that Richard Carter is still alive."
