Chapter 17 - The Siege of Monte Carlo

"KILL THEM!" Julian screamed.
The facility erupted into a bloodbath. Adrienne moved like a demon, taking out mercenaries with lethal efficiency, sweeping through the room while shielding Simone as she completed the global network lock.
"Adrienne, behind you!" Simone yelled, firing her pistol over his shoulder, killing a mercenary attempting to flank him.
They fought their way toward Julian's command throne, but Julian pulled a emergency release lever. The floor beneath him split open, revealing an escape pod shaft.
"This isn't over!" Julian shouted as he plummeted into the darkness toward a hidden submarine docked in the subterranean freezing lake. "Meet me in Monte Carlo if you dare! The master key is on the Casino Royale server!"
The underground base began to self-destruct. Explosions ripped through the steel corridors.
"We have to go!" Adrienne shouted, grabbing Simone's waist and lifting her over a chasm of fire as they sprinted toward their helicopter.
Three days later, Monte Carlo was under total lock-down. The world's wealthiest figures gathered at the Casino Royale for the annual High-Rollers Gala, entirely unaware that the global economy was hanging by a thread inside the vault beneath their feet.
